A WORD FROM PASTOR SHIRLEY CAESAR

Faith for Today, Encouragement for Tomorrow

“O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”

Psalm 107:1 (KJV)

Greetings, my dear friends, and may the blessings of the Lord be upon you and your family.

I want to begin by giving thanks to Almighty God, because when I look back over my life and think about all the things He has brought me through, I cannot help but say that the Lord has been good to me. Through the years, I have seen His faithfulness in ways that words cannot fully explain. There have been mountaintop experiences, and there have been valleys. There have been days filled with laughter and seasons when I had to get down on my knees and ask God to give me strength for another day. Through it all, He has never failed me.

I have learned that some of life's greatest blessings are found in the simplest things. The love of family, the kindness of a friend, the comfort of a familiar song, a meal prepared with love, or a word of encouragement spoken at just the right moment can mean more than we sometimes realize. God has a wonderful way of reminding us that His goodness is all around us, even when life becomes difficult.

That is one of the reasons I am so happy to welcome you to BLESSINGS.

For many years, the Lord has allowed me to travel, sing, preach His Word and meet people from so many different walks of life. I have listened to their stories, shared in their joys, prayed with them through their troubles and witnessed the extraordinary things that can happen when people put their faith in God. Those experiences have taught me that everybody has a story worth hearing, and there is something we can learn from one another.

With BLESSINGS, I wanted to create a special place where we could share some of those stories and celebrate the things that matter in our everyday lives.

Of course, faith will always be at the heart of everything I do. The Word of God has carried me through every season, and I believe it still has the power to strengthen families, restore hope and encourage hearts today. As you read these pages, you will find Scripture, spiritual reflections and reminders of the promises God has made to His children.

I also want us to enjoy life together.

We're going to talk about family and the wonderful memories that stay with us long after the years have passed. We'll celebrate mothers, fathers, grandparents and the people whose love and sacrifices helped make us who we are. We'll share stories about music, good food, health and wellbeing, and the importance of taking care of ourselves and one another.

There will be conversations that make us think, stories that touch our hearts, and perhaps a few things that make us laugh out loud. You know, I have always believed that laughter is good for the soul, and sometimes we need a little joy to help us through the day.

I am especially thankful for the people who give so much of themselves to help others. There are wonderful individuals serving their communities, caring for families, encouraging young people and making a difference without ever expecting recognition. Their kindness deserves to be celebrated, because the blessings we receive become even more meaningful when we share them.

I also want us to remember the generations coming behind us. We have a responsibility to pass along the wisdom, faith, traditions and values that helped guide our own lives. Young people need to know that they are loved, that their dreams matter, and that with God directing their steps, their lives can have great purpose.

My mother taught me so many things that I still carry in my heart today. Some of the greatest lessons she gave me were not spoken from a pulpit or written in a book. They came through the way she lived, the sacrifices she made, the faith she demonstrated and the love she showed her children. Those are the kinds of blessings that become a lasting inheritance.

As we begin this first issue, I want you to know how grateful I am for every person who has supported my ministry, listened to my music, prayed for me and encouraged me throughout the years. Your love has meant more to me than you will ever know. I thank God for allowing our lives to touch one another, and I pray that BLESSINGS will bring something meaningful into your home and into your heart.

Whatever season of life you may be experiencing today, I want to encourage you to keep trusting the Lord. You may be waiting for an answer to prayer, carrying a burden that nobody else knows about, or simply asking God to show you what comes next. Remember that He sees you, He knows your name, and He understands everything you are going through.

Never allow the troubles of today to make you forget the goodness of God. The same Lord who brought you through yesterday is able to carry you through tomorrow.

A Prayer from My Heart to Yours

Heavenly Father, I come before You with a grateful heart, thanking You for Your goodness, Your mercy and Your unfailing love.

Lord, I ask You to bless every person reading these words. You know their homes, their families, their hopes and the burdens they may be carrying. Where there is sickness, I pray for Your healing touch. Where there is sorrow, bring comfort. Where there is confusion, grant wisdom, and where there is fear, replace it with the peace that only You can give.

Father, strengthen the mothers and fathers who are working so hard to care for their families. Watch over our children and young people. Give our seniors comfort, dignity and joy, and remind those who may feel forgotten that they are precious in Your sight.

Bless every household represented by the readers of this magazine. Let love grow stronger, let broken relationships find healing, and let forgiveness and understanding have a place in our hearts.

Lord, help us to recognize the blessings we already have, even as we trust You for the things we are still praying to receive. Teach us to be kind to one another, generous in spirit and faithful in all that we do.

May Your Word continue to be a light unto our path, and may Your goodness follow us through every season of our lives.

I ask these blessings in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

May God bless you, may heaven smile upon you, and may His love continue to fill your heart and your home.

With all my love and prayers,

Pastor Shirley Caesar

HOLD MY MULE!

Extraordinary Conversations
Life, Family and Real Talk

Every life has a story. Some stories stay with us forever.

There is something wonderful about sitting down with somebody who has lived a little, learned a lot, and has a story worth telling. Sometimes the conversation begins with a memory that brings a smile. Other times, it opens the door to an experience so extraordinary that you find yourself listening to every word.

Welcome to HOLD MY MULE!, a special feature of BLESSINGS with Shirley Caesar, where memorable conversations bring us closer to the people, experiences and moments that shape our lives.

Inspired by the unforgettable spirit of Pastor Shirley Caesar's beloved Hold My Mule story, this feature celebrates the richness of human experience through conversations that are personal, revealing, entertaining and, above all, genuine.

Here, we will meet fascinating people from many walks of life. Some will be familiar faces whose accomplishments have inspired generations. Others may be individuals whose extraordinary experiences have unfolded far from the public spotlight. What connects them is not fame or recognition, but the remarkable stories they have to share.

We will talk about family, childhood memories, friendships, relationships, faith, music, laughter, disappointment, perseverance and the unexpected turns that make life so interesting. There will be moments of reflection, occasions for celebration and conversations that remind us how much wisdom can be found in simply listening to one another.

One of the most beautiful things about a meaningful conversation is that it often takes us somewhere we never expected to go. A familiar story may reveal something entirely new. A memory from long ago may offer a lesson for today. Someone else's experience may help us better understand our own.

HOLD MY MULE! is a place for those discoveries.

We want readers to feel as though they have been invited into a wonderful conversation, where the stories are heartfelt, the personalities are unforgettable, and there is always room for a little laughter along the way.

Sometimes the most extraordinary things in life are not found in the headlines. They are found in the stories people carry, the wisdom they share and the memories that continue to live in our hearts.

Pull up a chair. There's a wonderful story waiting to be told.

YOU NAME IT!

Food for the Soul

Recipes, Stories and a Taste of Home

There is something about the aroma of a good home cooked meal that can take you back to a place you haven't visited in years. It might be the smell of cornbread coming out of the oven, a pot of collard greens simmering on the stove, or a favorite Sunday dinner that reminds you of being surrounded by family.

Before anybody even sits down at the table, the memories have already begun.

Welcome to YOU NAME IT!, where good food meets wonderful stories, cherished family traditions and the simple joy of sharing a meal with the people we love.

Inspired by Pastor Shirley Caesar's unforgettable song Hold My Mule, with its famous celebration of everything from beans and greens to potatoes and tomatoes, this feature brings that same joyful spirit into the pages of BLESSINGS.

Here, food is about much more than what we put on our plates. It is about the people who taught us to cook, the recipes passed from one generation to another, and the family gatherings where everybody somehow finds room for one more helping.

We will explore the wonderful flavors of Southern cooking alongside favorite dishes from kitchens and cultures around the world. There will be treasured family recipes, delicious new discoveries, conversations with talented cooks and chefs, and stories about the meals that have become part of people's lives.

Some recipes will remind you of your mother's kitchen or your grandmother's Sunday table. Others may introduce you to something entirely new. We will also celebrate thoughtful ways of preparing the foods we enjoy, because taking care of our health and enjoying a delicious meal can belong at the same table.

Of course, every good cook knows that the kitchen is often where the best conversations happen. Stories are shared while vegetables are being chopped, laughter fills the room as dinner comes together, and sometimes the most important family lessons are passed along without anybody realizing it.

There is wisdom in those moments. There is love in the preparation, generosity in the serving and a special kind of happiness in seeing everybody gathered around the table.

Through YOU NAME IT!, we want to celebrate those experiences while introducing readers to the personalities, places and traditions that make food such a wonderful part of our lives.

So whether you're an experienced cook, someone who enjoys trying new recipes, or simply the person everybody calls when it's time to eat, there will always be something here for you.

Come hungry, bring your stories, and make yourself at home.

When good food brings people together, the blessings extend far beyond the table.

I REMEMBER MAMA

Memories, Legacy and Family

The people who shaped our lives. The memories that never leave us. The love that lives on.

There are some memories that time simply cannot erase. The sound of your mother's voice calling you home, the familiar warmth of a family kitchen, the Sunday mornings when everybody dressed for church, or the quiet wisdom of someone who always seemed to know exactly what to say.

Years may pass, neighborhoods may change, and the world around us may look entirely different, but certain people and places remain with us forever.

Welcome to I REMEMBER MAMA, a heartfelt feature of BLESSINGS with Shirley Caesar, celebrating the extraordinary influence of mothers, families and the generations whose love, sacrifices and wisdom helped shape our lives.

Inspired by Pastor Shirley Caesar's beloved song I Remember Mama, this feature honors the women whose strength, devotion and faith created a foundation upon which so many families have built their lives.

For Pastor Shirley, the memory of her mother holds a particularly meaningful place in her heart. Through her music and ministry, she has shared the importance of remembering the love, sacrifices and spiritual guidance that mothers give so freely.     Her story reminds us that a mother's greatest legacy is often found not in material possessions, but in the values she instills, the faith she demonstrates and the lives she helps prepare for the future.

Yet I REMEMBER MAMA reaches far beyond any one family or generation.

Within these pages, we will celebrate mothers and grandmothers, fathers and grandfathers, and the remarkable people who stepped forward to love, nurture and guide children who needed them. Some raised large families with very little money but an abundance of determination. Others worked long hours, made difficult sacrifices and quietly carried responsibilities that their children would not fully understand until years later.

We will revisit the neighborhoods where generations grew up, the churches where families gathered, the schools where lifelong friendships began, and the homes where treasured traditions were born. Through photographs, personal recollections and remarkable family histories, we will discover how ordinary moments became extraordinary memories.

There will be stories of courage, perseverance and triumph. We will meet families whose histories span different cultures, countries and generations, each carrying traditions and experiences that deserve to be remembered.

Some memories will bring laughter. Others may bring tears. Many will remind us of someone we wish we could sit beside just one more time, hear their voice again, or thank them for something we did not fully appreciate when we were younger.

Family history is also a bridge between yesterday and tomorrow. The stories we preserve today become the inheritance of children and grandchildren who may never have known the people who came before them. Through those stories, they discover where they came from, what their families endured, and the values that helped them find their way.

That is why remembering matters.

I REMEMBER MAMA is a celebration of love that continues to reach across generations. It is a place to honor the people who stood beside us, encouraged us, corrected us when necessary, prayed for us and believed in us, sometimes long before we learned to believe in ourselves.

The greatest legacies are not always written in history books. Sometimes they live in an old photograph, a favorite family recipe, a familiar hymn, a childhood home, or the memory of a mother's loving embrace.

No matter how many years have passed, there are some voices we can still hear, some lessons we still carry, and some love we will never forget.
